About the Theatre
The Isis Theatre was purchased by the City of Crete and renovated by the Blue River Arts Council, which operates the theatre in a non-profit format staffed primarily by volunteers. “Resurrecting the goddess” brought movies back to the community, and is a great place to gather for live theatre, concerts, performances, presentations, and more!
Movies Available in Spanish with TheaterEars!
Isis Theatre is excited to be partnering with TheaterEars to make going to the movies even better for families. With the TheaterEars app, your entire family can go to the same movie without language being a barrier. It enables people who prefer Spanish to hear their preferred language when they attend an English language showtime.
Simply install the TheaterEars app on your smartphone and select your movie, showtime, and language to prepare your movie track. When the movie begins, TheaterEars will use your phone’s microphone to sync to the movie and enable you to hear it in your chosen language.
Hearing Loop Assistive Listening System
The Isis Theatre has installed a hearing loop - an assistive listening system - for people with hearing loss to hear more clearly. The loop provides clear, customized sound for people who use hearing aids or cochlear implants with telecoils. This system decreases background noise by sending the sound directly into their hearing instruments when listeners easily switch to their telecoil program. People who don’t use hearing aids or who don’t have telecoils in their hearing aids can borrow a receiver and headphones at no cost (inquire at the concession counter). Alternatively, users may bring personal wired headphones to plug into the borrowed receiver (3.5 mm jack). The receivers have a volume control knob.
Donate
As a non-profit organization, the Isis Theatre depends entirely grant funding and on the donations of caring people. Just by being here, you help the Blue River Arts Council (BRAC) keep the arts vibrant and meaningful in our community. Every dollar helps, and we’re grateful for the contributions our supporters have made over the years. To show our gratitude, donors of $2,500 or more are added to the donor wall in the foyer if gifts are received prior to opening. Want to add your name or that of someone you love? Click the donate button to make your contribution, and we’ll prominently display your generosity. After the theatre reopens, you will be able to get your name up in lights with a movie or event sponsorship. We’ll give you or your organization credit on screen, on the marquee, and on printed materials for that event. Please consider donating to this worthy cause. Donations can also be made to the Blue River Arts Council through the mail to P.O. Box 272, Crete, NE, 68333. Feel free to earmark gifts intended for the Isis Theatre.
Get Involved
The Isis Theatre is operated by the Blue River Arts Council, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit entity, which is dependent on voluteers for operation. We need help from our community every time we open the door. You can help at the concession counter or in the projection room on movie night. We need ushers and ticket-takers for special events. Even graphics artists and bookkeepers help keep the Isis operating. We’re deeply grateful to all the volunteers and hope you come to join us.
Events
Isis Theatre events are managed by the Blue River Arts Council as part of our mission to bridge cultures, build community, and boost the economy. Make a night of it at a movie or theatre production. Enjoy a concert or lecture with like-minded friends. Gather your colleagues for a seminar. Celebrate a birthday or anniversary – you can even rent the theatre for a celebration no one will ever forget. And if you have an idea for an event, let us know! We’re always open to new ideas that will interest our community.
